Intention
In which dimension is the Christian god? Or maybe it will better to say that, if we are third dimensional beings, moving unaware “forward” in the 4th dimension, what kind of dimensional being would god be, if it exist?
Listing some of the characteristics of god, a few of them are quite “outside” the logic of our three usual dimensions, as being omnipresent, disregarding time and space.
Yet I am more concerned about one particular fault in logic, the “Free will” paradox. Summarizing it, it says that we, creations of this god, were left to follow our free will, without any direct intervention, letting our reason, logic and beliefs guide us.
But the existence of this omnipresent one, that sees all, happened and that will happen, doesn't it restrict the free will? If it can see all that will happen, our “decisions” are already made for him, making them fixed in his point of view, thus, making “free will” just a fantasy for us.
Focusing on this problematic idea, I got to think that this god should be residing a few upper layers in the dimensional bucket, to be able to know it all, but still leaving space to “free will”, but where?
I know some of you will ask what has one thing to do with the other one, why being hyper dimensional will fix this logical fallacy.
Well, let me have a quick trip through the dimensions and the answer will be self-evident.
Let the journey begin.
0 Dimension
This is just a point, a fixed place in a system, yet without any other property, as length or width.
1st Dimension
Joining two points, we create a line, the first dimension. A line only has length, and is constituted of an infinite number of points.
2nd Dimension
Now, if we use the 1st and second point used before, and get a third different point, joining them together will make a plane (A triangle in this example) The second dimension only has length and width.
3rd Dimension
So now everything starts to be more interesting. Let’s introduce the concept of “bending”. Imagine this plane we just previously created. Certainly, if we are in a certain position of it, and we want to move to another position that is not directly next to me, this will be impossible, (more or less as right now you cannot appear in China, if you were not in China in the first place). To perform this feat, we will need to “bend” the plane. (Imagine having a newspaper page, and a bug walking on it is about to reach the end of the page. You could then “bend” the paper, making the bug walk to another point of the page, which was directly unreachable for it a few moments ago.
This bending is happening on the 3rd dimension. We are bending the plane into the third dimension, thus creating a 3-dimensional object (could be a cylinder in the case of rolling down a plane newspaper).
Explaining the third dimension would have been way simpler by just pointing out our reality, with length width and depth, but this concept of “bending” will be need to keep going on the next dimensional steps.
4th Dimension
Often called “Time” the fourth dimension can be picture as a line that joins two points on the 3rd dimension. One point could be your reality of right now, and what was your reality 5 minutes ago.
Generalizing, the 4th dimension will be a line which initial point will be the 3rd dimensional space on the start of our universe, and the last point of the line, will be the end of it.
Now, let’s imagine a fourth dimensional being; that will be an existence that can actually move out of will across the forth dimensional line. (In other words, this being could walk down to the past or up the future)
The existence of such thing will create an interesting effect, as it could go “back” into a previous point of the 3rd dimension, and do something “different” of what it previously did, thus creating a new different end of the universe.
Yet, the same effect could be obtained by “free-will”, if we are free to do whatever our mind dictates at a particular time, doing it or not, can potentially create a new “end of the universe” (lets picture a universe in which I decided to go out and kill people instead of write this paper, that will immediately create a different reality to the one that exist right now, and that will end creating a new end of the universe)
5th Dimension
Taking into account the idea of different ends of our universe, we can see all these group of 4th dimensional lines that lead to different outcomes as the plane of the 5th dimension.
Now, for the next dimension, is “bending” time.
6th Dimension
Imagine we, as the bug walking in the 2nd dimension plane, want to move to another of the possible outcomes of our universe, one in which, the four original members of The Beatles are still alive. We cannot do that, because that reality does not exist for us, yet if we bend the 5th dimensional plane into the 6th dimension, just as the bug previously mentioned, we could be in that reality of our universe.
So, as the cylinder was for the 2nd dimension before, the 6th dimension will be a rolled up of the 5th dimension.
We could picture the 6th dimension as being a system where the total possible states of our universe exist as single lines. All of these realities will be coexisting within the 6th dimension.
Now, we will stop for a little while.
We have reached a point on where all possible outcomes of all possible states of our loved universe exist within. Thus, a being that lived “out” of this point that was able to “see” it and could actually have all that knowledge instantly just by looking at it will feel as omnipresent for us, and beyond that, he will know all the outcomes of our decisions before we make them, yet without interfering with free will, as it would know ALL about our universe and its different realities by mere observation.
Does that sound familiar? That is, more or less, a description of what we defined as the Christian god, but explaining the “free-will” paradox as none.
Yet our travel together has not finished. We now know that an existence that has the characteristics given to that god will have to be over the 6th dimension, yet, we still don’t know where! It is time to keep our dimensional journey.
7th Dimension
Following our previous steps, and treating the 6th dimension as a point, we can picture a different point and join those two to create a 7th dimensional line. But what will that second point be? If our first 6th dimensional point contains all possible outcomes and states of our universe, another point will be all the states of ANOTHER universe, one that had a different start than ours, on which physical laws may be different.
8th Dimension
Now wrapping up what we had just done to create a 7th dimensional line, we can picture another 6th dimensional point different from the previous 2, making two different 7th dimensional lines, creating now our 8th dimensional plane, on which all possible states of all possible universes exist as single points.
9th Dimension
We are almost done now, yet for the sake of the conclusion, we will go further. Picturing the 8th dimension as a plane containing all states of all universes that can exist, what will be the analog of this plane to the next dimension? As planes are contained within a space, the 9th dimension will contain all possible 8th dimensional planes.
Think about all possible ways to organize the information and patterns. Basically, the 9th dimension will be all possible information and patterns that can exist, regardless of if this creates or not a plane on which universes exists.
10th Dimension
OK, we are done; we arrive now to the 10th dimension, which will be used as the last one. We had reached in the previous dimension a space within all possible information exists. Now what? Nothing, we had finished. If we conceived all possible patterns of information existing within a single point, there is nothing that can be out of it. So, the 10th dimension contains that. Further explanation is needed on this dimension of course, but giving that clarification will need a full article by itself and for our needs, this is as good as it goes.
Point-Line-Plane-Space-Time analogy
Now, going back to our first dimensions we could see something else of interest. A 3rd dimensional being will not be able to perceive the dimension on which it resides (the 4th one), but as a series of 3rd dimensional cross sections of it.
Then, it will conceive the 3rd dimensional space as infinite, same for the a 2nd dimensional plane, and a 1st dimensional line, as it could imagine movement toward any of the 3 dimensions in any way for an undetermined quantity.
Leaving that, the only dimension it could observe in its totality, viewing all of it and getting all its information by mere sight, are the 0 dimensional points.
And before, we mentioned that, if there exist a being with the characteristics needed to accomplish the description of the Christian god without failing to logic, it should be able to see and get all the knowledge of the full 6th dimension in an instant. So this 6th dimension should be for it as the 0 dimension is for the 3rd dimensional being.
And this leads us to the conclusion that this god needs to be a 9th dimensional being (contained within the 10th dimension) for it to look at the 6th as if it was just a single point.
Conclusion
This dimensional journey has taken us to imagine a whole more than what we can usually perceive in our daily lives. But at the same time, this trip was needed for us to find the realm of logic behind the existence of an entity that fulfills what Christians (and possible other religions) visualize as god, and put it into scientifically and logical terms.
A 9th dimensional being should be one capable of “moving” around all of the possible information and patterns that can exist, and interact with it in undetermined ways.
Do these words prove the existence of such an entity? Absolutely not, yet at least now we can have a logical term to use when referring to it.
